Wailua Falls, Kauai, Hawaii

Warning: Do not attempt this hike. We found out after we got home from this trip that it is illegal to hike this trail and you could get a fine up to $500.

Wailua Falls is an amazing triple waterfall on the east side of Kauai. This was the waterfall featured on the opening scene of the old TV show, Fantasy Island.

There is an overlook at the top.

When you pull up, you'll see the free parking area. You can hang out at the overlook and enjoy the beauty of these waterfalls.

After parking we walked over to the overlook to see Wailua Falls.

Our hope is that one day there will be a paved trail down that is safe and legal, but for now, please don't hike down. You can still enjoy the view from the top and the free overlook area.
