The Spire (Long Dong Silver) near Hanksville, Utah

The Spire is a tall rock formation just outside of Hanksville Utah.

The official name is Long Dong Silver.

This rock spire is located off of a remote dirt road surrounded by high cliff walls.

You will feel like your on the set of Lord of the Rings or Harry Potter.

It’s a must visit while in Hanksville.

I'm going to show how we got there, but if you want the specifics, go to the Maps section below to get the Google Maps coordinates.

We left Hanksville and drove 7 miles on UT-24. This is about an 8 minute drive. You will see a dirt road off to the right that you will turn onto.

Once you turn onto the dirt road, you will follow it up until you turn left.

After making the left turn, you'll follow that dirt road until you get there.

We went on a dry day. This is what the dirt road looked like.

Once we got close, we parked our truck and hiked up to The Spire (Long Dong Silver).

There were trails leading right up to The Spire and around it.

Overall, we loved exploring this remote location. It felt like we were on a different planet. We would highly recommend going to The Spire (Long Dong Silver).

• A  4-wheel drive vehicle with a full tank of gas.
• Bring a hat to keep the sun off of your face.
• Wear shoes with good grip or hiking shoes. 
• Bring water and food.
• Download the coordinates and maps before so you can find your way.
