Sandy Point National Wildlife Refuge, St. Croix

Sandy Point National Wildlife Refuge is a protected area for sea turtles. It is only open from September through March. During that time, it is only open on Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 4pm.
We visited at the beginning of April so the main gate was closed. We thought we were going to miss out entirely on this beach, but stumbled upon it while exploring West Beach. This beach is 2 miles long.
I only walked a little ways in and was amazed by the beauty of this beach. I want to plan a trip back to St. Croix during September through March just to be able to explore this entire beach.
As you are walking West Beach it seamlessly transitions into Sandy Point National Wildlife Refuge. If you're not looking for it, you will miss the signs as they are on the fringe of the beach.

Sandy Point National Wildlife Refuge is seasonally open from September through March. It is closed from April through August due to Sea Turtle Nesting. This is the sign you sign leaving West Beach and entering Sandy Point Beach:
This beach is amazing and we can't wait to go back during the open months so we can explore the entire beach!
