Blog Post - November 8, 2022

Playa Gipy (also known as Playa Guepi) is a remote beach located on the north end of Curacao.

You have to drive a dirt road to get there, but it is totally worth it.

We had the beach all to ourselves.

The water was great for snorkeling too.

This is the map from Google Earth showing the dirt road. This dirt road also goes to Watamula Hole. When you get to Watamula Hole, you'll see a sign pointing to the left to head to Playa Guepi (Gipy). Go ahead and make a left and then another left. You can drive or hike this unpaved road.

Once we parked, we had two ways we could head down to the beach. We could walk out by the cliff's edge on that trail or take the shorter trail directly to the beach. Either way takes you to a bunch of trees and there is a trail that goes through the trees down to the beach. We took the cliff's edge trail for the views.

With the water being so clear, we decided to do some snorkeling.

Overall, we had a great time at Playa Gipy. We had the beach all to ourselves and would definitely go back.

CHECKLIST:

These are the checklist items I recommend:

  • Bring a hat to keep the sun off of your face.
  • Bring sunscreen
  • Bring your own snorkeling gear
  • Wear good hiking shoes.
  • You don't need a 4-wheel drive vehicle, but it made it easier for us on the muddy roads. There were plenty of 2-wheel drive cars that made it fine.
