Pirate's Cove, Split Rock, and Bonefish Beach (West Harbour Bluff), Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands
Blog Post -Ā June 21, 2024
Pirate's Cove, Split Rock, and Bonefish Beach are all located in the same remote area of West Harbour Bluff on Providenciales in the Turks and Caicos Islands. They are located down on the southwest side of the island.
This is a remote area of Providenciales and is recommended to drive there in a 4-wheel drive vehicle. We rented a Jeep and it got us there without any problems. There are a few areas on the dirt roads with larger rocks and it's way easier to cross that area in a high clearance vehicle.
We finally made it to the end of the road. If you go straight it dead ends at Bonefish Beach. We decided to get out and explore this area first. These beaches have really shallow water. We saw two starfish while we were there.
Off in the distance we could see Split Rock.
After exploring Bonefish Beach, we took the narrow dirt road south down to the area where Pirate's Cove and Split Rock are located.
At the end of the road there is an area for parking and you can follow the rock trail to Pirate's Cove.
As we started hiking the trail, this is the view we had of the beach. This place is so beautiful!
I hiked the trail in my flip flops, but it would have been easier in running shoes or water shoes. Watch your step as there are a lot of uneven surfaces on the rocks.
You'll know you're at the Pirate's Cove when you see the large holes in the rocks and a cave below.
We saw that there is a ladder there, so we climbed down into the cave.
Once we made it down the ladder into the Pirate's Cove, we could see that we could walk right out to the small beach area. The water was really shallow here.
We decided we wanted to go see Split Rock up and close. The water was shallow enough that we could walk about 3/4 of the way there. Then the water got deeper and we swam the rest of the way.
After exploring Split Rock, we swam back to the Pirate's Cove and went back up the ladder and hiked back to the beach area.
We hung out at Bonefish Beach and enjoyed this beautiful area.
Overall, we had an amazing time seeing starfish at Bonefish Beach, exploring the cave and beach at Pirate's Cove, and swimming out to Split Rock.
We would definitely do this again and highly recommend it if you have a 4-wheel drive vehicle to make the trip there.
