Pine Trees Surfing Beach on The Big Island of Hawaii
Blog Post - Nov 15, 2023
Pine Trees Surfing Beach is a beautiful beach located on the west side of the Big Island of Hawaii.
There is a paved 1-lane road to the beach with plenty of parking.
This beach has great snorkeling on the south end and surfing on the north end.
This map below shows you where the beach is located on the Big Island of Hawaii.
As you drive in, you'll see the gate sign that the gate opens at 5:30pm and closes at 9:00pm.
You'll drive this long road with speed bumps until you get to a roundabout.
When you get to the round about, you will go straight. If you go to the right, you will be in the O'oma Beach parking lot. Follow this road and it will veer to the left. It is a one-lane road that has area to pull over so other cars can pass.
You'll go past the first parking lot area, which is Kohanaiki Beach Park.
You'll keep driving south until you see the next beach, which is Pine Trees Surfing Beach. This beach has a lot of parking, public restrooms, and amazing views.
We drove to the very end of the beach and parked there. From there we walked out to the beach and started exploring.
As we walked to the other side of the beach, the north end, we saw a lot of tide pools.
After exploring the beach and tide pools, we headed back to the south end to do some snorkeling. We found an area through the rocks that was fairly easy to get out.
Overall, we had a great time at Pine Trees Surfing Beach. We saw a few surfers, but the waves weren't big on the day we went. We loved snorkeling here and hanging out and taking in the beautiful views.
