North Bimini Shipwreck and Beach, North Bimini, Bahamas
Blog Post - July 18, 2024
On our cruise to Bimini in the Bahamas, we got to explore the North Bimini Shipwreck and beach.
In our opinion, this beach had the best snorkeling on North Bimini with crystal clear water and a lot of fish.
The water was really shallow so it was easy to navigate.
The name of the shipwreck is the Gallant Lady.
This beach is located on the southwest side of North Bimini.
When we got off of our cruise ship, we walked 0.5 miles to Sue & Joy's Golf Cart Rentals.
You have the choice of taking the free tram or walking.
We decided to walk to see the beautiful views from the bridge.
As we were leaving the port, there are signs along the sidewalk pointing you in the right direction.
As you're leaving the cruise port, to the right you'll see the arch and across the street you will see Kayak Beach. Go ahead and cross the street and follow the sidewalk to the left over to Sue & Joy's Golf Cart Rental.
As you get to the roundabout, you'll see all of the golf carts and a blue building titled "Sue & Joy's". This is where we rented our golf cart for the day.
We got the mid tier golf cart for $140 for the day. We drove the 2.5 miles down to the North Bimini Shipwreck and Beach. In the Bahamas, you drive on the left side of the road. These are some of the views along the way.
As you get to the end of the road, the paved road turns into a dirt road. You'll see a cemetery on the right hand side.
You'll drive past the cemetery onto a trail that goes through some trees.
You'll see that there is a turn off to the right. If you go that way, you will go directly to the shipwreck.
We went straight as we wanted to go to the southernmost beach first and do some snorkeling.
This is the view of the southernmost beach.
As you walk out you'll see a sandy entrance into the water and a rock formation that you can snorkel around.
After snorkeling, we got out of the water and walked north towards the shipwreck.
We found that the shipwreck is surrounded by rocks so we walked a little ways south where there is a sandy inlet where we got in and snorkeled up to the shipwreck.
The shipwreck is in shallow water so it was easy to swim to.
This is what it looked like.
Overall, we had a great time exploring the shipwreck and snorkeling on the southernmost beach. This was our favorite snorkeling spot on all of North Bimini and would highly recommend it.

These are the checklist items I recommend:
- Bring your own snorkeling gear.
- Bring your own snacks and drinks.
- Bring reef safe sunscreen.
- We recommend renting a golf cart to get there, but if you're going to walk make sure you have a comfortable pair of shoes for the 2.5 mile hike there. The free tram at the port only runs to the north end of the island.
