Man-O-War Cay Sandbar and Beach, The Exumas, Bahamas
Blog Post - June 13, 2023
The Man-O-War Cay Sandbar and Beach are only accessible by boat.
This is the biggest sandbar we've ever been to.Ā
The beach was also beautiful too.
You can't drive there from Great Exuma, so we rented a boat fromĀ Minn's WatersportsĀ to get there.
To get our boat, we went to George Town at Elizabeth Harbor to Minn's Water Sports. You can see what it looks like below
After checking in, we went down to the boat slips to get in our boat and head out. From Elizabeth Harbor you go through a small tunnel to get out to the ocean.
OnceĀ you get out of the harbor,Ā we were told that we should go to the middle area and go south toĀ Man-O-War Sandbar and Beach. They said this is the safer way to get there. This is where it is located on the map.
This is the view as we pulled up to the sandbar in our boat.
We anchored and then got out to explore. We couldn't believe the different shades of blue on this sandbar. It was so beautiful.
As the tide comes in and out, you'll find a lot of starfish.
It felt like we could have walked forever on this sandbar. We've never been to a sandbar this big before.
After exploring the north end of the sandbar, we got back in our boat and headed to the south end and the beach area. On our way we stopped and did some snorkeling. We saw a huge starfish. This is a map of where we went to.
As we got close to the Man-O-War Cay Beach, the water started to get really shallow. We didn't take the boat all the way to the beach. We anchored a little ways off and walked to the beach. We had the beach all to ourselves.
Overall, we loved Man-O-War Cay Sandbar and Beach. It's definitely worth the cost to rent a boat and visit the little sliver of paradise in the Exumas, Bahamas.
