Mahukona Beach Park on The Big Island of Hawaii
Blog Post - Nov 9, 2023
Mahukona Beach Park is a great snorkeling spot located on the northwest side of the Big Island of Hawaii.
Once you turn off the highway, you follow the road down to the fork in the road.
When you get to the fork, go to the right to go snorkeling.
This is what you will see at the fork in the road. To the right is the snorkeling area and to the left is the picnic tables and hangout area.
We went to the right to go snorkeling first.
At the end of the parking lot is an area with steps and a ladder to get in to go snorkeling.
We brought our own snorkeling gear so we went down the step and got into the water to go snorkeling.
We had heard that the snorkeling over by the broken pier was good. This is what the snorkeling looked like:
This is an aerial view of the broken down pier.
In the middle of the bay there is an old chain.
After snorkeling, we got out and headed over to the other side of Mahukona Beach Park.
This side had a large parking lot, picnic tables and is a great spot to hang out and take in a beautiful rainbows or sunsets.
Overall, we had a great time snorkeling at Mahukona Beach Park. It doesn't have a sandy beach, but was still a great place to explore and hangout.
