We took the Road to Hana to get to the Haleakala National Park. This is located on the east side of Maui.
This National Park is located about 10 miles south of Hana.
We got there at 9 am when the park opened and used our National Parks Pass to get in. The normal price is $30 per vehicle.
Since we arrived when the park was first opening the parking lots were pretty empty and we got to choose where we wanted to park.
We hiked down past the bathrooms and visitor center to the Kuloa Point Trailhead.
The Kuloa Point Trail is a half mile loop trail that takes you to the Pools of Ohe'o and some archeological sites.
The Pools of Ohe'o are also known as the 7 Sacred Pools, which used to be used by the Royalty of Maui to bathe.
This is a beautiful hike and worth doing at Haleakala National Park.
When you arrive at Haleakala National Park you will see the guard gate and the sign with the fees. It was $30 per vehicle, but we used our National Parks Pass to get in.
We drove in, parked, and hiked to the trailhead.
This is a map of the trail.
You'll see the trailhead sign and then you go to the right and follow the loop around.
Along the trail we saw some small archeological sites.
There are spots all along the trail that you can see the waterfall and pools of water, which lead out to the beach with black sand.
We hiked the rest of the trail and came out where we started.
Even this was a short hike, it was worth doing on our visit to Haleakala National Park and would highly recommend it.
