Kehena Black Sand Beach on The Big Island of Hawaii
Blog Post - Nov 16, 2023
Kehena Black Sand Beach is located on the southeast side of the Big Island of Hawaii.
This video was cut short as I realized that this is a clothing optional beach, so you probably don't want to bring your kids here.
It has a steep and rocky hike down, but this beach is beautiful.
This map shows you where it is located on the Big Island of Hawaii.
As we pulled up to the beach there is a larger parking area and parking right at the trailhead. We found a parking spot at the trailhead.
After parking, we did the steep hike down to the beach. This isn't a long hike, but you do need to watch your step as you go down.
As you get down to the bottom, you have some amazing views of the ocean and cliffs.
The very last part to get to down to the beach is the steepest.
As we got down to the beach, I only recorded for a minute and then realized that this beach is clothing optional. You can see the people by the water were wearing clothes, but for privacy I turned off my camera.
Overall, we loved this beach, but we wouldn't recommend bringing kids due to the clothing optional part.
