Hapuna Beach on The Big Island of Hawaii
Blog Post - Nov 11, 2023
Hapuna Beach is located on the northwest side of the Big Island of Hawaii.
The main entrance is a public beach, but the north end has a resort.
There is a $10 parking fee for non-hawaii residents.
There is great snorkeling on the north end of the beach.
This map shows where the beach is located in relation to the Big Island of Hawaii.
Hapuna Beach has a large parking lot. There is a meter by the entrance to pay the $10 parking fee for non-Hawaii residents.
We went to the north end of the beach to go snorkeling. You can see where the yellow dot on the map is. That's where we went snorkeling.
After you park, you'll walk down a paved trail to the beach.
The is a long beautiful beach. We started walking to the north end to go snorkeling.
As you get to the north end, you'll see a rocky area and an inlet that is protected from the waves. There is a trail that you take to the ramp that goes down to this inlet.
As you enter the trail at the north end of the beach, you will see this sign. Follow this trail around the bend.
As you go around the bend, you'll see this walkway down to this small inlet/bay.
We set our stuff down on the rocks and got in to go snorkeling.
After snorkeling, we got out and went back to the beach to relax and hang out.
Overall, we loved our visit to Hapuna Beach. We loved how long of a beach this is with soft sand and the great snorkeling on the north end. We would highly recommend visiting this beach on your next trip to the Big Island of Hawaii.
