Cecret Lake Hike via Upper Albion Meadows and Cecret Lake Trail, Utah
Blog Post - October 22, 2023
Cecret Lake is located in Alta, Utah. Yes, it is spelled with a C instead of an S.
This is a 4.5 mile out and back moderate hike.
It has an elevation gain of 1,210 feet.
This beautiful lake is located up at the top of the Alta Ski Resort.
We drove up Little Cottonwood Canyon to get there.
We went to E Day Lodge Road and parked in the parking lot there.
You can find this hike on AllTrails. This is a 4.5 mile out and back moderate hike.
From the parking lot we got on the trail which is right by the Albion Grill at Alta. You can see the trail goes behind it.
We followed the trail around the bend and through some pine trees. The trail goes under the ski lifts.
You'll get to a part in the trail where you will veer to the right and go up a hill full of rocks on the trail.
At the next fork in the trail you will veer to the left toward the building
You'll go around the building and turn right to follow the side of the building. You'll see the Alf's Restaurant sign. You'll know you're heading in the right direction on the trail.
As you're following the trail, you'll see a little turn off with a padded bench that you can rest and watch a stream.
After resting and drinking some water we kept hiking.
We hit another fork in the trail and saw a sign telling us that Cecret Lake was to the left. We looked at AllTrails and it told us to go to the right. The sign was wrong and make sure you veer to the right on the trail.
You'll know your going in the right direction when you cross this little bridge.
We then turned off the small trail to the right onto the gravel road.
You'll veer to the left on the gravel road.
We finally got to the last part of the hike, which consists of some rockey switchbacks up the mountain.
We finally made it to the top of the mountain and it opens up to Cecret Lake. These views were amazing.
There are trails that allow you to explore all around the lake.
We loved this hike and would highly recommend it.
