Alan Davis Beach
Blog Post - Nov 9, 2024
Alan Davis Beach is a remote beach that you have to hike to, but it is definitely worth it.
It's only 1/2 a mile hike and it has a large beach, 2 tide pools, and a larger area to go swimming and snorkeling.
You can see where it's located on the map below.

The parking for Alan Davis Beach is located at the Makapu'u Point Lighthouse Parking Lot. This parking is free, but it fills up fast. We had to drive a few loops to find an open space.

After parking, we walked up to the trailhead. The Trail to the Lighthouse is paved, but the trail to Alan Davis Beach is a gravel/dirt trail. You'll see it veer off from the paved trail right at the beginning of the trail.

Once you get onto the Kaiwi Shoreline Trail, it's about a 1/2 mile hike to the beach. It took us about 10 minutes.

You can see where the trail narrows and then comes out onto Alan Davis Beach.

Alan Davis Beach is a narrow, but long stretch of beach.
The water is really shallow and there are two tide pools you can hang out in.
As you go farther out into the water it gets deeper and clearer.
That's where we went snorkeling.

The shallow area was rocky, so we would recommend water shoes or just floating over the rocks until you get to the deeper water if you're going to go snorkeling.Ā
This is what it looked like snorkeling.

Overall, we had a great time at Alan Davis Beach and would definitely go again. There is so much to do here from exploring the trails, laying out, and awesome snorkeling. We loved it.
